My work as an art psychotherapist is grounded in anti-oppressive, anti-racist and decolonizing frameworks that center joy, curiosity, and collaboration alongside the radical acts of creativity and play.
I offer sessions (individuals, families, groups) for those aged 7 and older.
In-person sessions
engaging | immersive | responsive
In-person art therapy is about using creative expression to attune to your most present needs and curiosities while exploring your emotions and experiences in a supportive environment.
At my quiet, comfortable art therapy space (233 Front Street, Belleville), you’ll be invited to choose from a variety of art materials for your creative process.
I will be with you throughout the session, offering art prompts or guidance whenever needed. Together, we can engage with your art, feelings, or whatever else arises in the moment.

Online sessions
convenient | flexible | secure
Sometimes, “doing the work” means respecting your sense of safety. Or, maybe you just feel like making art in your PJs some days! Whatever the reason, online sessions are always welcome.
During virtual art therapy, we’ll connect via secure communication software and align your creative process with any art materials you have on-hand.
Online sessions are ideal for anyone located outside the Hastings County region, are new to therapy and building up their comfort levels, or just aren’t really feeling in-person therapy that week.

Eco art therapy
embodied | natural | connected
In the last 100 years, our relationship with the earth has changed drastically. Every day, we’re encouraged to focus more on productivity and technology, and less on nature’s rhythms. Eco art therapy pairs the expressiveness of creativity with the inherent wisdom found within our natural environment, using both art supplies and found materials.
Whether held in a city park or on a well-maintained trail, eco art therapy sessions are for those who are looking to rekindle their connection with the earth around them through creativity.

Groups & workshops
collective | supportive | customizable
There is so much power in having your art be witnessed, and in witnessing the art of others. Group therapy sessions center peer support as key to the healing process, while the art therapist facilitates safety in the space. Closed groups are weekly, and include the same 4-8 participants at a time. Open groups are more casual, and use creativity for wellbeing rather than therapy. Both run for 8-10 weeks, and range from 90-120 minutes.
Organizations can also foster peer support via art-as-wellness and psychoeducational workshops, customized to your needs.

Complimentary consultation
I offer free 30-minute phone or virtual consultations for anyone looking to learn more about Āio Art Therapy’s offerings.
These consultations are not therapy sessions; they are intended to provide general knowledge around session structure, sliding scale rates and operational policies. They’re also a chance for us to get to know each other a bit, and chat about what safe, supportive therapy looks like for you.
“By operating in a manner that liberates the individual and community, we humanize and restore human dignity, because it is a dignified thing to be human.”
